It was OK but I don't feel satisfied with what I read and it wasn't really all that deep.

Amazed by your writing skills. There are books which must be read at any cost and this one seems to fit particularly in that category. Thanks for the review, you helped me find a new book to read.

Sometimes I pass on certain ScyFy books/series because they're too full of slash-em, hack-em-up battle scenes that go on foreeevvveeerrr.... Don't get me wrong. ScyFy/Fantasy is right at the top of my favorite genre list. I just want some variety in the storyline.

The part of your review that has me believing I may just enjoy this book/series is "...Ian Yamagata does a wonderful job here of creating action scenes that have you wondering what's coming next and curious how things will end positively without dragging on forever." That, combined with the coming of age of a protagonist who is discovering his powers, makes Mark of the Remaker by Ian Yamagata the next addition to my bookshelves.

Thank you for your insightful review.

Sometimes fantasy books gets dragged out with unnecessary stories, it is a joy that this one isn’t. Aside the inconsistencies, it sounds like a really good book and Hugo is brave for a 19 year old. Great review.

Entertaining and beautifully written review. This book sounds like a fun read. I prefer stories that carry real consequences and this one appears to do just that.

Honestly, you had me at light saber like weapons. I agree about the lack of violence in th genre being quite frustrating, so it's interesting to see a book do that without turning into a gore fest.
