Review of Genesis Awakens
Genesis Awakens by Akorede Adekoya and Howard Haugom is the first book of a Christian Fantasy book series. This book tells the story of Genesis, coming home from university for her grandfather's funeral. She gets visions of the past when she touches a nail in an anvil in her grandfather's workshop. There are some villains who search for it and there is also a protector of sorts of Genesis and the nail. What is special about the nail and others who wants to steal it and how Genesis and others protects the nail forms the rest of book.
This book is in the format of alternating timelines. The first chapter is a scene is the past and second chapter is of the present. This book is centered around the crucification of Jesus Christ and the nails used to crucify him. I am not a Christian, but the fact didn't matter as the book is easy to read and understand.
The relationship between Genesis and her grandfather is portrayed beautifully. The characters Genesis, Mark and the connection between them and the characters in past is also shown great. The events happen in a quick pace without seeming to drag on. The villain for the next book is hinted to at first and then shown in the epilogue. Other future characters were also shown in epilogue.
This book is fascinating to read. There are no noticeable flaws or negative points in it. It is a fantasy series with very strong influence of Christianity. The main audience would be Christians. But anyone with any bare amount of knowledge in Christianity can also understand it. I am not a Christian and have only a passable amount of knowledge in it. But I understood and enjoyed this book very much and I am looking forward to the next book in this series. It has great character development and is well paced. The action scenes are also great. The plot twists of the book are also unexpected such as about Genesis's grandfather.
This book is very well written and well edited. It is easy to read and understand. Genesis Awakens by Akorede Adekoya and Howard Haugom is an intriguing book with magic and actions and religion thrown in it. All in all, it makes for a great book. I give four out of four stars.
The target audience of this book is teens and above ages. The magic and actions of this book makes it a great reading experience. This book also teaches some morals through its characters and storyline.
