Review of Keeper of the Broken

[Following is an official OnlineBookClub.org review of "Keeper of the Broken" by Alyssa Lauseng.]
Keeper of the Broken (The Keeper Trilogy 2) by Alyssa Lauseng is a fantasy book that tells the story of two characters; Hikaru and his planned revenge against Giahatio and also Kulako, who made sure he safeguards his family while in a dangerous world.
Hikaru, who is a deserter, began living with Sonika and her partner, Kulako. His stay with them was unknown to Emperor Akuko and was also kept a secret from anyone. Not only was Hikaru in danger, but also Sonika and Kulako, as they were under the severe ruling of Emperor Akuko. When Sonika gave birth to Kohaku, the family was also in danger. Once Sonika was attacked by Ewah and his men, who demanded the whereabouts of Akahana, she was saved when Kulako intervened on hearing the report. Kulako wants his son to have a bright hope and future and also wants him to be safe. But what would he do? Hikaru told him of his plan to remove the Giahatians, but Kulako knew the army surpassed them in number. After thinking for a while, what path do you think Kulako would choose? Is it a path that leads to the eradication of the Giahatians? Or is it a path that leads back to Akuko's severe ruling?
The book is a gripping fantasy fiction that captures the reader's attention down to the end with its imaginative content and brimming narratives. It also includes mythological heroes such as Hikaru, that are imaginable outside reality. The magical elements are the foundation of the plot, setting, and storyline in general. The characters are engaging, as they play their role perfectly, even displaying brutality at some point. The characters did not assume the role of another character but acted in accordance with their respective roles. The book also contains a bit of suspense which I find very compelling and undoubtedly interesting.
What I love about the book is that it is mystical and heroic, keeping my interest throughout the whole book. The characters were also amazing and brutal, but I liked Kulako. He is a great father to his son and a lovable partner to Sonika. Even when he was about to visit the grandmaster on page 82, Kulako begged Hikaru to keep watch over Sonika and protect her from any danger. The safety of Sonika and his son was in his mind wherever he went. I also loved that the book was quite coherent. Without reading the first book of The Keeper Trilogy, I could still understand what the book is all about, even though the first chapter was mystifying. I don't see that as a negative aspect. Hence, I have nothing negative to say about the book.
There were not too many errors in the book. I believe it was professionally edited. I would gladly rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. I recommend this book to fans of fantasy books with a blend of fiction and adventure.
