Artemis fowl vs Percy Jackson

Post by Akki_30 »

I'm confused as to which series I should start first. I like books which explore mythology but aren't too full of details. Please recommend.

Both are good, but I would start with Percy Jackson.

I think Artemis Fowl is a better series but from what you said you should go with Percy Jackson.

I have the Percy Jackson series, but froom jsinard's post it looks like I'll like Artemis Fowl better. Are they from the same author?

They are from different authors.

Percy Jackson, set in America, by Rick Riordan sticks closer to mythology than Artemis Fowl, by Irish author Eoin Colfer. Personally, I feel Artemis Fowl is more imaginative than the Percy Jackson series.

I haven't read the other series, but I have to say I have grown up with Percy Jackson, but if you read Percy Jackson, get ready to read the series that comes after that, the Heroes of Olympus. I am still reading that series because it isn't complete. Hope I helped. :)

I think both series are very different and shouldn't be compared other than in terms of fan base. Percy Jackson does incorporate a lot more Mythology and adapts that notion to today's society. While, Artemis Fowl is true fantasy with elements of science fiction. The protagonist here is completely different in that he's not a complete saint. Therefore, your choice will depend on which of the two genres you're ultimately more interested in.

I would strongly reccomend the Percy Jackson series, I have read both and prefer Percy Jackson, they are too hard to compare.

Personally, I love Artemis more than Percy. If you want something that has more to do with mythology you should read Percy first. If you'd like to read a series with a new take on fantasy creatures (fairies, elves, dwarves) read Artemis first

If you are looking for a series on mythology, then you will want to start with the Percy Jackson series. The Artemis Fowl series deals more with technology and futuristic advances. I enjoyed Artemis Fowl better because I felt that all of the characters were better developed than those in the Percy Jackson series.

I would start with Artemis Fowl. The Percy Jackson series is fantastic, but there is a spin off series of books. I recommend getting through the Artemis Fowl books first before embarking on that adventure.
