Review by rdrumsey -- Korian by Giorgio Garofalo
The planet, Endura, is described as an Earth-type planet that is occupied by an indigenous race called Ruids (Firstlings) and humans. There are also giants and strange mythical creatures that pop in and out of the story. The planet has an extensive history and the author makes quite an effort at the beginning of the book to set the stage by bringing you up to speed on the planet’s past. There is even a map you can refer to as the characters travel around. I found the map rather handy several times. You will journey across this continent with the main characters as they encounter strange creatures, battle an evil force, and eventually unite for an epic battle. There are several surprises in store for the reader. There is also a love story thrown in the mix.
The storyline revolves around three characters on separate paths leading to the same destination for a final conflict. They share a predetermined destiny to come together to banish or rid the planet of the dark forces brewing at the edge of the continent. Each prominent character’s story could have been written as a stand-alone short story and is just as important as the next character that follows. I found that about the time I would get emotionally vested in a character, Garofalo would switch gears, and I would have to leave that character and follow another one for a while. All in all, I was completely entertained by this book. Garofalo put a lot of time and effort into creating a unique and fascinating world. I look forward to reading more by this author.
I have no complaints or criticisms about this book, and I gladly give it a 4 out of 4 stars rating. A lot of time and thought has gone into creating the backstory, environment, and characters. The story flows well from beginning to end with several twists and turns throughout. The novel is rich in detail and depth. It moves at a fast-enough pace that you will not be bored. I did not find any editing errors in this book.
The story does not have any profane language or erotic scenes. It does have graphic violence and gore. This book would be suitable for all except young children.
