Review by mmalsha -- Korian by Giorgio Garofalo
“Nahire, once a peaceful and prosperous city, now resides in shambles known only as a myth, so far few know that this great city once shined this world, not in imagination but in reality. Thousands of years ago great city was fallen by a force of darkness which is now trying to rise in the pits of Hallas Mons. Day by day the world goes towards the darkness, the only hope shines in this dark time is the prophesied AZURA.”
Oh god I need the sequel right now!!!
Korian is a fantasy/science fiction story written by Giorgio Garofalo. From the beginning to the end this book gave me “ lord of the rings” vibe. I am not saying it is just like it, but it was such an epic ride which went through all of my memories and made a tiny connection, which I loved ofcause.
I do not have any complaints, but have two specific wishes. First; I wish to see this book only as a fantasy book. The author Giorgio has written this book as a mixture of fantasy and sci-fi. He had made the connection wondrously, that I cannot complain, that is why I am making it a wish. The world he made would be so prettier as a fantasy world, comparing with a sci-fi world.
Second; in the beginning among the first few chapters there is a discontinuity among the characters. Even though there is not much of a cliff hanger at the end of the book, this discontinuity made cliff hangers through the first part of the book. I wish that discontinuity to be vanished. But I think it happened because the author gave every one of his main characters the same love and respect. So in the end of a chapter I was like “oh!! Tell me what happens next!!”. But in the next chapter I would get succumbed into another characters’ journey and my mind would push that initial cliff hanger to a side and go along with the story.
It surprised me because, usually I would get frustrated by that. But because of the way the author created these wonderful characters my complaints died out and could not stop myself from going along with the author. So when the author started to pull all of those characters in to a single chapter, my awe and curiosity got ahead of me, there was more than one time I just wanted to skim past paragraphs to see the outcome of this unity.
From all of these characters my favorite was the Korian, as the name suggests he is the main character. I loved him; his personality, appearance, abilities, insecurities, all of that captured my heart and fell in love with him instantly.Apart from the characters my favorite would be the fight scenes, they were so good, I was on the edge of my seat in each one of them. I cannot wait to get into more of this world.
The author has just started the real fight. If readers just wait patiently giving this book a chance it would be better. I feel like this first book is just the foundation, cannot wait to see how this would end. Hope everyone would enjoy this epic journey, recommend this to everyone, I know I am going to reread this book more than one time. So as for the obvious, I rated this book 4 out of 4 stars.
