WE ARE VOULHIRE- A New Arrival Under Great Skies by Matthew Tysz
After being sent his passage papers by his ill and estranged Great Uncle, Galen Bray starts out on what promises to be an epic and intriguing journey. We join Galen as he travels from The Lands of Princes, lands of poverty and war where it's survival of the richest to Voulhire, a land of prosperity and peace. But all is not as it seems in Voulhire.
Galen arrives at the port of Magna Caelum dirty, hungry and unknowing of what is awaiting him. He is met by The Mayor who leads him to a forge left to him by his deceased uncle along with his savings and a journal. Needing refreshment Galen visits the tavern where he meets Rowan, a financier who also happens to be Galen's uncle's executor.Sitting and eating together they talk of his uncle whom Galen had never met and decide to meet together the next day. Whilst inspecting the forge the next day Galen makes a promise to himself that although he has no experience whatsoever as a blacksmith using his uncle's journal he will learn the trade and make him proud. And so begins his journey around Voulhire.
WE ARE VOULHIRE-A New Arrival Under Great Skies is the first book in a series of three. It gives the reader an introduction to the different towns of Voulhire, learning about the difference in people and trades for each town. Each having it's own individuality.
We are also given an introduction to various characters of the book.
I thoroughly enjoyed the book from page one and finding nothing to dislike I have rated it four out of four stars . Each and every person, place and event is painted in a clear and vivid picture thanks to the excellence of the descriptive writing style of Matthew Tysz . It is extremely well written and well edited only spotting one error.
I would recommend WE ARE VOULHIRE- A New Arrival Under Great Skies to young adults, especially those who enjoy magical, mystical stories with intrigue and deceit mixed in.
As the book does include a small amount of foul language I would caution anyone who gets offended by it. However it is only a small amount and should not stop you from enjoying the book.I for one am looking forward to reading the other two books in this series to see how the story progresses and to experience more magic, mystery and intrigue.
Well Done Matthew Tysz
