We Are Voulhire: A New Arrival Under Great Skies by Matthew Tysz.

The book is told by a young man. He starts by telling a story about a country. How it started to be consumed by wars wich had not ended, and they weren't about to end any time soon. Therefore, when he sees the opportunity to escape, whitout a second thought, he gets on a ship which sails to Voulhire. It is pictured as a perfect place where you can find anything you desire, the most ideal place to go when you want to start over.

The main character goes there in order to start a new life, a better one. A life without wars. When he got there, it made a huge impression on him. The story goes on and we can find how Galen, that's his name, tries to work things out in a new city. We read about new people he meets, the job he gets. He has a lot of things to learn because things work different in Voulhire. It's pretty likely that he will question his beliefs and may be changing them as he spends more time there.

At the same time the book tells the story of a Lord Eldus. We meet his family, his wife and his son and also a daughter. He lived a good life. He got the lord title form the king himself. So he came to a town called Hillport in Voulhire. He wanted to make it a better place. He wanted to help the people move forward.

There is also the third hero in this book. It's Lam. He is the first king of the Voulhire. He was the youngest leader of the council in one hundred years. We see him as he struggles to rule the country. Tries to make the best decisions he can. Deciding about wich knight to promote, allocating founds, where to move knights and the train of these knights.

In the book there is a supernatural aspect. There is magic in wich Galen is rather sceptical about. He does not belive in magic but this may change with time.

I would rate this book a 2 out of 4 stars . I liked it but compared with other books in this genre it is not that unputdownable. If you are a fan of science-fiction books and you have some spare time then you should reach out for this book.
