Death and Relaxation by Devon Monk

Post by Gravy »

Death and Relaxation: Ordinary Magic #1 by Devon Monk.

Ordinary Oregon does not live up to it's name. A place where myths live, and gods vacation, and one family is in charge of making it all work...

This is a fair introduction to a new urban fantasy world. Not her best (some editing issues, and one of the mysteries was way too obvious to even count as such), but the snark and characters, along with the world and ongoing storyline was enough to have me looking forward to continuing.

Possibly my favorite part was Death. I have a weakness for personifications of Death, and when Thanatos comes for a vacation (dressed in slacks, dress shoes, and Hawaiian shirts), laughter isn't far behind.

I would recommend to those who love urban fantasy, or (like me) personifications of Death, or just want a fun, fast read, with some good laughs along the way.

I went and checked out Amazon's synopsis and it def sounds like something I could get into.
Especially since, as you point out, there's a personification of
Death.

I love Death as a character. I'm currently reading another book with a personification of Death, the third book in Kalayna Price's Alex Craft series.

There are so many, and such variation!
