Some things have a way of captivating your attention, that you don't even realize when you've transcended into somewhat of an alternate reality of intense thrill. The Golum of Rebic by Larry Harrison is a book that gives such experience. This concise story will blow your mind completely.

Haru Suzuki and his group arrive at the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic to assess the likelihood of some East European nations abandoning socialism, and to report back to the Tokyo Communist Party. They meet with their official guide called Vladimir Novotny, who is also a city official. Things get interesting when Vladimir tells them a story about a monster called the Golem whom the Jews believed had been kept in an attic In the Staronova Synagogue. The group then decides to go into the synagogue to see for themselves. They are fascinated when they get there and discover that the writings on the wall are Japanese, and tells the story of a Japanese warrior, Banko. The story talked of how the warrior seemingly travelled through time and space accidentally. Grab a copy of this book to find out how Banko found himself In Bohemia and what transpired after his travel through time.

I'm truly fascinated by the storyline of this book. I'm still in awe even as I pen down my thoughts. The book surpassed all my expectations. I must commend the author for perfection because he was able to create a masterpiece of only 13 pages. It had excellent development. The storyline from the beginning to the end was properly coordinated. I like how the storyline entailed political twists, the concept of time travel, and lots of action. There was never a dull moment while reading this book. The author's description of the action scenes was very captivating. The book had a few characters, but each character, be it major or minor was well-developed. My favorite character in the book is Rabbi Loew. He was a man of great wisdom and had a kind heart. The scene I loved most in the book was Banko's fight with three German soldiers.

The only thing I found flawed in the book was the confusion regarding the book's title. The book's name was written as "The Golum of Rebic" in the book's description. But, on the first page of the book, I encountered two different names. The first read, "The Golem of Treblic", while the second one read, "THE GOLEM OF TREBIC". Although, I think "The Golem of Trebic" was what was intended as I saw more than one mention of it on page IV. Everything else about this book was perfect. The structuring was excellent and the storyline was well-paced.

I found no grammatical error, which shows that the book was professionally and exceptionally edited. The book contained suspense and jawbreaking surprises to thrill the readers. I'm therefore rating this book 4 out of 4 stars. I recommend this book to lovers of sci-fi and fantasy stories.

After this review, I have to get this book! The concept of time travel is one that has piqued my interest of late. Couple that with action and this seem to be a book I will thoroughly enjoy! It will also be interesting to read content that touches on Eastern Europe as I have not encountered such yet. Thank you for your review.
