Why did everyone settle for apple when the bible didnt mention the name of the fruit?

Post by Sophia Damilola Ajayi »

The bible described the fruit of good and bad in the garden of Eden but did not explicitly mention an apple. I have been wondering over the years, why did most people assume that fruit could've been an apple?

I think the answer to this question is quite simple, and that is because of our mindsets. When we think fruit, we think apple. Another reason for this is because as a reader we try to visualize what we read, and the easiest thing to imagine and picture in our mind is an apple when the word fruit is mentioned.

This is a very weird and funny question. I guess it’s just something told to children so that they get a clearer picture of the story. Children grow too, so hey grow with these stories.

Perhaps it's because of Adam's Apple?🤔😀
The gift turned out to be a curse. They killed him with kindness.

I don't think it is a weird and funny question. When you hear most adults talk about the garden of eden, often times they call it the apple. Honestly I was guilty of this too, until I read killing Abel, then I started questioning so many things were seen as the norm

This question is thought provoking, I wonder who the first person that suggested the fruit as apple is.

I honestly did ask my teacher this question and she laugh. But I believe we can't just tag the fruit a nameless fruit. God gave man dominion over all things so therefore it was recorded as that.

Apple is a fruit that is also plucked from a tree, and the description of the fruit being very pleading to the eye, apple fits in.

I have wondered about this particular question as well. I have searched the bible and haven't found mention of any apple. My theory is maybe one person started saying it was maybe an apple then other persons started adopting it

I guess apple was just really convenient. But does it really matter?

I've always thought that Bible scholars did they research and established that the fruit was the apple. I'm not sure now after going through the comments here.
