From Killing Abel the author doesn't really make it clear that it was jealousy that led him to kill Abel. Anger is an acceptable emotion when dealt with in the correct way because there are always things that will make us angry, and should make us angry, so that we do something about them to make the situation right. Anger because you are jealous is not right because theoretically jealousy is not a good emotion. I think my biggest problem was the way it dealt with guilt being the whole problem and not asking for forgiveness. It was inconsistent when the characters seem to understand some complex ideas and then were left to work out other complex ideas by themselves. It seemed the author was picking and choosing where the characters were knowledgeable and where they weren't in order to promote his own theory.

The book portrays Abel's sacrifice to God being accepted over Cain's. Abel is also portrayed as a diligent person who offers the best of his produce unlike Cain.

I agree with your explanation. In fact, it is well explained in the bible that Cain killed Abel because of jealousy.

Cain killed Abel due to Jealousy;(That is according to the Bible's plot about these brothers) the author did not change that context of the plot despite the book being fictional.

To answer your questions " do you think that the motives in this novel were portrayed in the correct way?" My answer is YES , because the author maitained the meaning of the story; but, only putched up possible spaces with his Imaginations.

It shows Cain's confusion. When Eva asks him why he did it, he becomes mute. There might have been many reasons, but it is depicted here as sudden anger, powered by long term jealousy and hatred

The killing was purely out of jealousy. Cain murdered his brother as God accepted Abel's sacrifices over his. Later, he was banished from the settled life and sent for exile where we lived as a wanderer.

The motive was portrayed adequately only if considered apart from the Bible perspective. It is however very difficult to maintain objectivity in this case because of the preconceived ideas one has even before reading the book.

A book perspective would be incomparable to the biblical perspective where the story was adapted from. But to be transparent, I'd take a deeper dig on this to further understand-though I wouldn't say no to various interpretations!

From the Bible story, one can easily say that jealousy, was the reason for Cain's action.

I think the author maintained the same motive as specified in the Bible even though his imagination took him further. Also I don't think there should have been more specifications because everyone that has read the Bible knows that Cain killed Abel out of Jealously.

There were various reasons specified in the Bible about the reason for Abel's murder. Wasn't it jealousy from Abel’s sacrifice been accepted and Cain's rejected?

I don't think the author want the novel taken too literally.

A fictional work is like an agreement between the writer and reader to pretend that the content of the book is real. The book is a work of fiction so the author is free to weave the story anyhow.

The motive in the Bible was that Cain was jealous of God accepting Abel's sacrifice but not his (Abel did bring the best of the best of his lambs while Cain just brought some of his not necessarily the best crops). I think this motive was kind of glossed over in the book.

The author expressed himself in his book as he wanted to so I don’t think it should be compared with the Bible
