I expected it to be more tricky, but it was simple and was not really that intriguing. It has no mystery at all.

Yes it was simplistic because everything was far too predictable and that ruined the fun of reading a suspense novel
,A mystery novel should have the element of surprise and the characters shouldn't be too predictable... cause then the story becomes boring

Yes the mystery was simplistic. The reader could tell what was going to happen next. This took away the mystery bit in it.

The whole story was super simple. And the thing that got me a bit angry was the fact that from the very beginning you can already see what is going to happen in the end.

Exactly, the mystery was out of the window from the beginning. A bit disappointing, if you ask me.

Yes it was simplistic based on the fact that one could almost easily predict the next line of action especially at the end which shouldn't be about mystery book. I think the author should have heightened the suspense in this book.

yes this book was simplistic because most of the characters' actions were too predictable, hence, spoiling the suspense in the book.

Actually, every plot seems very easy to predict, but it make the book interesting in some way.

I agree that the plot was simplistic, but this being my first book by this author, I wonder if that's just the writing style? The mystery seemed a secondary storyline, which I can only imagine was used to place the characters in the necessary setting. I felt that we could have easily uncovered the same conclusion regarding the underlying motivation of the evil developer with no loss of life at all.

Yep, very simple plot...I gave the book 3 out of four and the more I chat with folk I wish it had been a two! It was a 2.5 book for me.

I felt the author had been on holiday to Ireland for two weeks and wanted to shoehorn that into a novel.

Most of the surprises, looking back, are the almost unexplainable behaviour of some characters to push the plot forwards, and the lack of development of key players.

The mysteries might have been predictable but the author makes up for it in other parts of the story. I do agree though that it is disappointing to read a book and realize it is not as thrilling as it was made out to be.

I think this was my biggest let down with the book. I loved alot of the elements, but the mystery fell short.

I agree with the initiator of this thread. I chose this book specifically for its 'mysterious qualities' but, in the end, it felt like the story never really piqued :/ Which is a shame because I loved all the things Irish and I think that the author did a great job at 'building' Ireland.

This book is more of a description of the characters than a mystery novel. The ending is predictable. So agree, the mystery is simplistic.
