The character of Claire while refreshing and realistic, was vital to the plot by her constant mannerism and childlike behaviour. I found that she was the main source of humour in the story with naming her repunzel doll "Punzey", referring to Hillary as "Maaaa", and many of her mannerisms.
What are your thoughts on Claire? Do you agree that she was the main source of humour in the story?

I agree that Claire provided most of the humour in the story. Her character was original and well developed.

I'm sure that many parents can identify unique traits and habits that their children display too. This makes Claire a very relatable character.

I agree. I found funny that I could get Claire more easily than Hillary even if I'm probably older than Hillary.

Claire is such an intelligent, perceptive child, and her presence added so much interest to the story. I love her fascination with Rapunzel. She was the light of the story!

Claire also reflected the mother/daughter relationship with Hillary’s own abandonment issues. It was a light touch of humor, I do believe, but it also was a deeper reflection into trouble that readers don’t yet know about.

I definitely agree. I looked forward to seeing her name pop on the screen. Along with her hero worship of Rapunzel, I lived her determined search for 4 leaf clover.

I have a niece about the age of Claire and it's refreshing to have a story that portrays a child correctly. Usually children in murder mysteries add very little to the story and are usually not mentioned often, or they are portrayed in a much more mature manner.

I could picture Claire's long hair getting caught up under the airplane's seat and the scene it must have caused. It showed how traveling with a child can get more complicated than if traveling alone. She showed excitement seeing the castles and hearing ghost stories.

I agree that Claire brought a lot to the story, including a good bit of levity when needed. When she got her hair stuck on the airplane, I was greatly amused. It was something that I felt could happen to me or my daughter when we were younger. Claire's adventurous and authentic spirit helped ground the story in reality.

I thought Claire was a very cute character. I loved her drive to keep her "Rapunzel hair", and that she would hang it off of tall places like Rapunzel did. I thought she was a great source of humor, along with Sarah.

Claire was my favorite part of the book. I also noted that I liked "Punzey" and "Maaa." Kids make me laugh, and it was fun to see her point of view. I also agree that she was vital to the plot. She wasn't just a random character thrown in.

Another thing to consider in Claire the character...is how genuine she was as a childish character-she acted her age perfectly despite being a fictional character. This, at least for me, made her an essential part of the story and a lively one at that.

Claire was humorous and I think she was portrayed appropriately for her age. But I actually thought the whole scene with her getting her hair stuck on the plane was odd. Now reading some of the comments here, it seems it may have been for comic relief.

Claire is my favorite character as she portrayed accurately for her age. She also brought some light-hearted comedy to a story that can be construed dark at times.
