The editing of the limited text in the book is not very good. There is a three-page foreword written by an art historian and psychology expert. The grammatical errors in this introduction are extensive. Unfortunately, the errors don’t stop there. Mistakes such as ‘The horses head’ and ‘boy friend’ litter the fleeting text. Two artworks are also repeated in the journal, and without explanation, I can only assume that it was accidental. Finally, there are a few blank pages, sometimes spanning a two-page spread. For an artist’s journal, I think this should be avoided.
I agree with your thoughts. I get the impression that some books in the poetry genre are less carefully edited under the guise of creativity. I'd definitely want to be sure that the person writing my foreword used correct grammar. Great review, Bianka!
Exactly - I always feel a bit bad about saying that poetry editing is bad... like maybe I'm not creative enough to 'get it'. :lol2:
Thanks, Cecilia, I appreciate your comments :)

It can definitely be irritating! Thanks for commenting :)

This is really a novel idea for a book. I assume it is self-published. Self-publishing gives every author wanna-be the opportunity to get his/her book out there. Who knows it might be the next big hit? (Let me start collecting my doodles while reading my OBC assignments. I'm considering the title, "Distracted Art.")

John Grisham tells the story of how his first novel "A Time to Kill" was a killer to sell in the beginning. But it eventually became one of his best bestsellers; it even inspired two sequels.

I would read your Distracted Art happily!
A Time to Kill also became a movie with an amazing cast. That's one of many movies, too.
Ah, but to have talent. Maybe one day, you can write Distracted Art, I will be your AMAZING publicist, and we will travel the world and adopt baby elephants and pandas.

I love your suggestion that, if art could talk, this is how it would speak. It all feels a bit like hard work to read for the reward, though, so I might skip this one. Thanks!

Congratulations! I would be so lost of I had to review this one. But, you have done it beautifully. I almost want to look at the book! May I jestingly suggest that maybe the blank pages signified the author was a loss of words to depict an art work?! Great review!
