Thanks for the review. The sample introduces us to Buddy, but your review shows you to be quite taken with Bawa's tale. This seems like an interesting compilation, and your assessment reinforces that view. Good job, Emunah.

Mostly, I loved reading the book because all the stories were downright hilarious! The change that occurs when a person encounters cultural shocks and economic hardship is simply captivating.
Seems that this book is good for a person willing to learn a thing or two about cultures as well as the shock one encounters as one changes places. I will read it. Thanks for this review.

This is a humorous collection of short interesting stories on culture shock. The book was amazing to read and I rated it 4 out of 4 stars. The onlinebookclub review was masterfully written and highlighted the best the book had to offer. Congrats on being the BOTD.

A history of mixed culture. This attracts me. Thanks for the review.

Thanks for the review, but I'm just not a fan of 'fish out of water' tales, and I don't think these nine yarns will be exceptions however humorous they are.

This certainly sounds like a captivating tale with good humor and interesting stories involving various cultures. I am personally not a fan of short stories, but based on the review it sounds like it may be worth a second look.

I like short stories on occasion. I've never been to India but I've heard interesting things about the culture. I've never been to Paris either. It seems those two worlds colliding would make for some interesting tales.

The Fine Print and Other Yarns contains nine stories, seven of which are about the lives of people moving from India to visit or live in France. Covering a time-period between the 1980’s to the early 2000’s this is an interesting account, peppered with a little humor, of how these individuals relate to their new culture and environment. Reading the sample, I began to think poor Buddy might have had a better time in London at the National Gallery. I could relate to the feeling of disappointment when you finally visit a place you have thought about for a long time and find it a little lacking. I hope the other characters are as humorous.

Real life stories and anecdotes have always captured my interest. I have previously read and seen such stories from India and being in the neighbouring country helps in connecting with these stories much easier. It is definitely going into the reading list.

I love short stories, therefore, I'm drawn to this book already. It's quite appealing to be able to read a collection of stories that account the different economy periods a country such as India has suffered. It's like getting a two plus one deal. One can have fun and at the same time learn through it; and the inclusion of humor is a plus.

It has been a long time since I read a book that had a compilation of stories. I am always drawn to stories that depict the changing times through the eyes of a character. I look forward to reading this book. Congrats on BOTD.
