Thank you for your well-written review. The horrors that the protagonist underwent were already tragic enough, but it's even more heartbreaking if such were perpetrated by someone he should trust. I, therefore, agree with you that it takes an ingenious author to be able to highlight the societal ills that need to be resolved but, at the same time, do it with skill and mastery to make the book not too gross to put someone totally off and, instead, light and interesting enough to keep the reader engrossed.

Thanks for the great review. This seems to be a very interesting book, especially as mental health is being spoken about more and more and is being acknowledged in a way that it never has been previously. I will add this one to my list to read

This book touches on such an important topic! As someone that has had to face mental illness, I think it´s a huge accomplishment if a book can really make you empathize with the situation and give it a little thought to what people that struggle with it have to face.
I´m glad it makes it in an enjoyable way and full of suspense too. Big topics don´t have to be exclusive with an engaging literary style!
I´m intrigued by the songs, I think it´s a powerful resource but I can understand it can be overused.
Thanks for a great review!

The use of flashbacks can be very informative when done properly. It sounds like the author did a good with them. I’m glad for the use of humor to lighten the mood of an otherwise very heavy topic. I can’t even imagine the trauma that Soondie experienced and I’m very glad that he found a shoulder to lean on.

Is this a true story because it sounds so real? Thank you for your descriptive review!

I don't see depression tackled as much in fiction as I do in non-fiction, so I appreciate that the author used this angle. I also appreciate the attention to PTSD, especially for veterans, as many do not get the help they need and result in these kinds of tragedies. I like that the author added humor in order to balance the more intense subject matters. Thanks for the review.

Its refreshing and inspiring that our beginnings don't dictate the lives we will live. That trauma isn't the master of ones destiny. I enjoy seeing people succeed and grow in spite of what they have gone through. Hopefully the dark parts of this book don't get to me.

Thanks for the review, but I just don't care to read about such heavy subjects, so I'll pass on this one.

As someone, that deals with depression and anxiety on a regular basis I can relate to what the main character is going through. Its difficult to go through life when you don't have the support that you need, so he is lucky to have his cousin to help him along.
