In "The Conscripted Extremist", you will feel how this raw political thriller can run deep into your mind with such an intense legal intrigue.
As a lawyer from another country, wandering through the rights and wrongs, and the doubtful relations between power and trust during turbulent times creates a sense of "what I would do if I were in his shoes?" This book was difficult to put down.
That feeling of knowing the turbulence plotted while reading was always scratching at the back of my mind.
Those plot twists were intense and engaging, while the deep insights created by the author, instigating these questions throughout the story’s fast pace make, you doubt your own perspective on politics and life in general. Plot twists were well-formulated, keeping you guessing about what was going to happen next until the very end.
All of Gabe's conflicts, as the main character, were made noticeably clear, with strong character development, and his struggles were effectively expressed. Facing all the betrayals was so shocking I had to stop for a moment so I could move foward. The author’s narrative was brillant made, spinning around spies and their dramas, mixed with friendship, trust, and loyalty themes. At times it felt like I was by the character’s side. As i previously stated, it is so viceral it can be a little bit overwhelming, but the curiosity gets you back on track.
It’s such a great blend in general, related to what this book proposes: high-stakes legal drama and deep personal conflicts with a touch of humor. You get excited and contemplative about contemporary issues —a fiction book with a deep real-world insight.
The writing itself is intelligent and well-structured, with every plot point meticulously crafted to keep you engaged. The balance between intense political drama and intimate character exploration is masterfully managed, making the entire book feel like a highly engaging journey. I highly recommend this book.
