Review of The Maple Seed Helicopter
Imagine losing your parents at a young age and then taken to an orphanage where you don't even fit in. Marco's life changed when he lost his mom and his dad abandoned him; he was taken to an orphanage, which he later escaped with his friends George and Dario. They meet Domenico, an elderly man who lives with his wife; the man offers to accommodate them, and this move changes the kids lives as they grow under his shelter while learning skills and morals. They grow up and finally decided to leave and chase their dreams. Dario had a dream of becoming a football player, while George and Mario wanted to travel to America. Despite achieving their dreams of traveling, they still encountered lots of trouble on their way and even when they got to their destination. This book covers how these young men went about their lives and how some of their mistakes cost them.
Marco Collina made me realize that our fate in life depends on us, and some mistakes can even cost more. This book expresses the innocence of a child who grew up to become an adult while passing through the biggest challenges of life.
One of the most impactful lessons of this book is the importance of friendship, brotherhood, and oneness. Reading about how the boys were always there for one another despite various challenges and difficulties was very inspiring. Reading about Mario's life was also very impactful as we, the readers, watched his growth and failures, which led to his character development. Furthermore, this book, “The Maple Seed Helicopter,” would open readers to the importance of chasing our dreams and never giving up despite challenges.
I found nothing to dislike about this book. I noticed that the book had a slow pace and went into details a bit more than usual, but I believe that was the beauty of the book. The book lacked grammatical errors, which indicates proper editing; this would prompt me to rate it a five out of five stars.
I would recommend this book to people who are willing to chase their dreams and are willing to get more insights on resilience and determination. This book would also be a good option for people who are willing to learn about the importance of togetherness and friendship.
