Ride the Wind is a thrilling fantasy novel written by Jennie Dodd. Set in Western Australia, the book follows sisters Chaney and Dakota as they embark on an adventure that blends their love for horseback riding and magical encounters.

From the book's beginning, we are introduced to the sisters conflicting characters, with Dakota being more level-headed than her more exuberant younger sister. While preparing for a 160-kilometer endurance race, however, the sisters are drawn into a fairy kingdom's struggle against the dark-hearted fairy, Alba. With the help of Prince Kyle and fairy friends, they brave treacherous landscapes, fierce creatures, and supernatural forces to save the kingdom. The girls are forced to face challenges on and off the race course. Freak weather, bushfires, and Alba's malevolent powers test their courage and determination.

I really enjoyed this book for several reasons. The character development was good, particularly with Chaney, who undergoes significant growth throughout the story. The suspenseful moments were well written, demonstrating the author's mastery of building tension and stakes. I found myself fully invested in the story, eager to know what happened next. I also appreciated the attention to detail in describing the race course and the demands it placed on both riders and horses. Chaney was undoubtedly my favorite character, with her mischievous streak and deep love for her sister and father.

The only bit of an issue I had with this book was the villain Alba. Her character was not given enough time on display, in my opinion. I would have preferred to see a lot more of her and have her engage more with the sisters directly. While this is entirely subjective, this book was an engaging and captivating read.

This book was also exceptionally well edited. So, I rate it 5 out of 5 stars. I recommend this book to lovers of fantasy and coming-of-age novels.

I've never ridden a horse my entire life, but next to a dog being a man's best friend, I would accept a horse any day. Anyway, this is not about me and my remote love for horses.
This is about Dakota and Chaney's adventurous experience with horseback riding on the race track, leading them into a fairy kingdom where they join forces to save the kingdom from the evil dark-hearted fairy, Alba. Grab a copy of "Ride The Wind" by Jennie Dodd, and discover how they eventually saved the day!

Thanks for the review @Lisa P Cowling. Though it has been a while since I read any fantasy tales, one with horses in it sounds truly promising!
