Showing both the dreams and nightmares of show business, this book raises questions about the ethics of entertainment and highlights the lack of choices available to the poor, especially young women.
Very well-said!

I'm gonna prepare my hanky while picking this book up.

Thanks for the detailed review.

Thank you for the engaging review! I was on the fence when I first saw the cover, but the blurb and your review have pushed this book to be on my to-be-read shelf.

I would love to read this book based on your great review, however, the part about graphic scenes of sexual exploitation gives me pause. I'm just not comfortable reading those types of books.

Making a little girl the family's scapegoat is horrible. Will that actually get them out of poverty? I Pity these young ones subjected to slavery and abuse. The novel seems interesting. Nice review.

It sounds like a book who promises to take you on a journey. A talented girl from a poor family that rises out of it all. The book sounds real and even if I don't like graphic scenes that much it might be needed to get you as the reader to understands what circumstances are like in places like that.

Thank you so much for the warning regarding how graphic this novel is. I really appreciate the heads up since I imagine it would definitely be something I'd feel uncomfortable with. Of course, I feel that the premise of the book as you've described it and based on the short sample I read make this book well worth reading anyway. Thanks so much for your review, I'm definitely looking forward to giving this book a read.

The Indian culture has always been a fascination which is perhaps the big draw for me in addition to seeing circus life through the eyes of a performer. The scenes of child abuse, however, makes it a difficult read.

It is sad that this fictionalized account is nonetheless a reflection of the situation for many around the world. Given the heavy subject matter, I'm going to skip this one even though I think it is an important work that should be read. Great review!

The story which highlights child trafficking and exploitation is very timely. Muthu's life was difficult but I hope it gets better. By reading this book, I hope it would raise awareness that many children in the world are suffering, too.

This book sounds very interesting and unique. Unfortunately, child trafficking is a very serious and prominent problem in the world. I hope this book brings it to light and makes people open their eyes. It's great that you couldn't find anything wrong with this book. Awesome job on your review!

Working with the impoverished children and families in Central America, I’m sure this book would bring insight to some of the exploitation of children that goes on here as well. However, the abuses I see and hear about are all too real so I choose not to read graphic details of those abuses if I don’t have to. Well done review.

Today's #BOTD sounds like one that deals with complex and serious subject matter, while taking the reader through a variety of emotions! I have defintiely added it to my WTR list. Thank you for your review...it was well-written and very helpful. :-)

From the 'Official Review: Elastic Girl', by Olivia Rana, we imbibe that the topic of the book, 'the circus life', is another subject of curiosity for readers.

Thank you for the in-depth review of Elastic Girl by Olivia Rana. This sounds like an intense novel that focuses on a young female circus performer whose fate is determined by the skills she hones as a performer. Thank you for the warning about some of the more graphic aspects of the novel. Nonetheless, it sounds like an inspirational novel of a girl who is able to rise from her poverty and circumstances.

It's good that this book explores issues that young women face in other countries. The content is a bit sensitive for me though.
