Have you ever been curious about private clubs and their members? Or do you currently belong to one or more private clubs and want to read a book to learn more about them in a lighthearted way? If you fall into one of these groups, I am sure Private Clubs in America and around the World by Norm Spitzig (aka Clive Endive Ogive IV) will pique your interest. In its humorously informative pages, you will discover everything you need to know to find your way around private clubs. You will start from the very beginning with basic terms and phrases to face any conversation. Additionally, you will learn to distinguish the various types of private clubs, discover what Boards of Directors and Club Committees are for, get a crash course on services and facilities, and learn what types of employees and members you might encounter (Esther the Waitress deserves an entire chapter).

I do not think I have ever had so much fun reading a book. I know nothing about private clubs since I have never been a member of any, but the author managed to describe them in a way that makes them pleasantly familiar to me. The author aims to be humorous and succeeds in it, both when he explains certain inveterate habits (if there is one thing you will surely learn, it will be that there will always be a need for "MORE SOCIAL MEMBERS") and when he describes characters of exceptional value, such as the unpredictable Esther.

The chapter dedicated to Esther is my favorite, and I must say that this woman is nothing short of surprising in her attitudes and beliefs. The book constantly ensures big laughs, but the pages reserved for Esther are, in my opinion, the most hilarious.

The only negative side of the book is the typos, but even if there are many, they cannot distract the fascinated reader from the pleasant reading. I would also add that although there are some profanities, I do not think anyone will feel offended because they are used sparingly to achieve a certain effect.

I rate this book 4 out of 5 stars only because of the typos, but it is a very entertaining read that I highly recommend to all those interested in private clubs and those who appreciate humorous readings.

I reckon this book, "Private Clubs in America and around the World" by Norm Spitzig, sounds like a good read. Based on the review, it seems like a humorous and informative guide to private clubs, with a lighthearted approach that keeps the reader entertained. The author's witty descriptions and humorous anecdotes make the unfamiliar topic of private clubs pleasantly familiar. Although there are some typos, they don't seem to distract from the overall enjoyment of the book. I reckon it's worth a solid 4 out of 5 stars. Y'all interested in private clubs or just lookin' for a good laugh should give it a go! Absorbing narrative, lost myself in the story completely.

"Private Clubs in America and around the World - The Reprise Edition" by Norm Spitzig is a humorous and engaging exploration of private clubs, blending lighthearted anecdotes with insightful observations. While the book is entertaining and informative, especially with its standout chapter on Esther the Waitress, it is marred by typographical errors. Still, its charm and wit make it a recommended read for those curious about private club culture.
