I read the free sample and felt thrilled by a book reminding me of our thugs in Nairobi city, Kenya, who pride themselves in the powers they wield over law enforcers. The book took me back to My Life in Crime by John Kiriamiti which I read against stern warnings from teachers as a young primary schoolboy. Your review summed up the entire book, bringing a clearer picture of the theme and nature of the main protagonist. Quite impressive. Keep it up, reviewer.

Aw308110, I understand how you feel. But that`s just Pomeroy: haaard-hitting and unapologetic.

The fact that you like what you call an "egotistical and sexist character" makes me think the author must have done something incredible here.
I don´t have a problem with crude language and I´m really wondering what´s this new view on the "new world" that the satire presents.
Sounds like a unique book. Thanks for your review.

Great review. throughout the story their are very many instances of comedy which to me are very captive to every reader out their. I love the book because the story is told in the perspective of the character, also given that the character used vulgar language , he is egotistical and sexist you will find hard to dislike him due to his interesting an comic life. Congrats to the author.

I think I am among those who won't be able to stand Pomeroy's personality. An egocentric, sexist character is not what I am looking for. But his plot seems amazing.

After reading the preview and your review, I would agree with you that this book would not suit everyone. Your mention of "the personality of the main character is especially crude and sexualized" is so true. I will pass on this one.

I like the cover; it made me chuckle. Based on your review, this novel is probably my kind of thing: satirical, funny and sarcastic, I should hope so.

This really seems like a fun piece of satire. Reading the blurb and now this review, I can see that it might be somewhat offensive to many, but sometimes that is the beauty of satire. Authors can get away with all sorts of things in satire. I’m not sure how I feel about the adult situations and language. I’m not normally a fan of that, but I may still look more at this one than I originally had thought.

Puts me in mind of "Thor: Ragnarok". I enjoy a good lampoon but I also enjoy a satire and humor. Sounds like Pomeroy is just such satire and humor. One might also collect intellectual humor but that is what satire is all about. That Pomeroy is likable is a definite balancing act that should be seen and read to be enjoyed. Hooray for the wit that created Pomeroy and let us out of the dark, dreary, pedantic frame of mind that ends with smiles and promiscuous sharing. One does not need to be sexist to be gross and disgusting but such as sexism does need to be lampooned. Hooray!

He sounds like a repulsive character that you can't help but adore. I enjoy laugh-out-loud humor when reading. I don't mind that it's possibly a little offensive.

Excellent review. I did find some parts to be funny, amusing and satirical, but the adult situations and language is a turn-off so it is not a book I would want to read in its entirety. However, for those who don't care about the crude language, I am sure they will find this book a lot of fun.

I guess this is something that will make me laugh out loud while reading. Your description of Pomeroy in this review kind of reminded me of Peeves the Poltergeist, a mischievous ghost at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. This seems like a book that I will want to read everytime I need a dose of laughter medicine. :D
