RE:A Second, Less Capable Head, by James Hanna
I think the concepts evident in this book sound really interesting. Virgil's story, for example, just goes to show how bizarre our minds and bodies can be times, and how we really don't fully understand them. I'm looking forward to delving into all of these different worlds in each of the individual stories.Brilliant review

I, too, found the stories enjoyable. Another reviewer commented 'Too Kafka like for me' and I agree -- it is EXACTLY like Kafka's 'Metamorphosis', with a healthy dose of 'The Twilight Zone'. And it is GLORIOUS for that. I would only add that, in addition to the Nietzsche references and philosophies, it's also got a healthy dose of political commentary and satire -- for example the first story talks at great length about how the main character is writing to Sarah Palin, while carefully avoiding naming the President, even though contextual clues spell out who it is.

Overall, yes -- this is a four-star book, and a present day modern classic. I loved every page.

The first few pages of the sample looked really good. Glad you confirmed that it’s funny.

The description of this book is right up my alley. I love schizophrenics, stalkers, aliens, and other social outcasts! Sounds completely bizarre and darkly humorous. I'm concerned you may have spoiled the ending of some of the stories in your review though!

Nice review but it did not make me want to read it. The review did not draw me in. Maybe a little to much information.

I have always been a fan of the weird and interesting as well as short, well written stories. From what I see, this book has both and looks like it would really capture my attention.

Great review. Not my normal genre but wow this seems like something I should look twice at.

Yeah. I am very intrigued about the book's initial story as having a head grow out of you is very interesting. I am not sure, but I feel like the story is a cliffhanger, although it could just be like that. However, I can see this initial story having some meaning in the real world as possibly a warning that we should take care of our water supply as in the book, the cause was said to be water supply tainting.

Though weird, this collection of stories seems well written, but it's not for me. I'm not a fan of dark stories. Good review.

I like characters that are witty, weird and thought-provoking, thrown into a dark, disparate world! ;)

Thank you for the in-depth review Second, Less Capable, Head And Other Rogue Stories by James Hanna. It sounds like a though-provoking anthology of short stories that used black humor to get its point across. It has received good reviews and won a book award. However, this type of writing is not my cup of tea.

Based on the review this book sounds fascinating. I’ve always had an interest in why people do what they do. I was surprised the reviewer rated a 4 out of 4 just because that so rarely ha. I would love to read this book!

I already have too many problems with just one head; I can't imagine life with two minds instead of one. Sounds like a fun story to read. I'll be checking it out. Thanks for the review
