God Inspired: “30 Days Inspirationals” by Clyde Campbell is a Christian faith-inspiring devotional. In the preface, Campbell provides the reader with a brief testimony about how God has pursued him from an early age. However, like so many of us, he only surrendered to God after having lived a life trying to satisfy his flesh. Campbell was once a drug addict, but in his own words, “ after entering treatment for my addictions, I got to see, feel, and understand, what transformation was…”

Soon after his conversion, Campbell felt spurred by the Holy Spirit to minister to his friends via short inspirational written messages. The book is adeptly titled God Inspired because according to the author, “God told me to write books…” As it can be gauged from the subtitle, this devotional consist of 30 inspirational messages meant to be read one per day. Campbell does a great job reminding Christians to keep the faith in times of adversity and imploring everyone to obey the word of the Lord in thought, word, and deed.

I enjoyed reading this devotional not just because of what it contained, but also because of what was left out. Campbell addressed the readers in the first person perspective in a very conversational tone. There are many instances of him telling us to trust in the Lord Jesus and persevere in love even when we suffer because of our caring disposition. Fortunately, there are no references to Christianity as a religion nor is there an advertisement for a specific denomination. I believe that Christianity should be seen as a relationship with God through faith in Christ. This book advocates this point very well.

Unfortunately, I cannot give this devotional a full star rating. Campbell is obviously very dedicated to the ministry of the gospel. I do believe that this book is God Inspired. However, I also believe that the author should have consulted a professional editor. There doesn’t seem to be one sentence without more than one blatant grammatical error. Most of the sentences are run-on sentences with misplaced commas, missing and misused words. From an optimistic point of view, I think that the myriad grammatical errors add to the conversational tone of the book. However, I still have to admit that I was highly annoyed because of the lack of professional editing.

In conclusion, I rate God Inspired 2 out of 4 stars. I would have loved to give this 4 stars because I appreciate Campbell’s work. However, the grammatical errors were sufficient enough to force me to deduct 2 stars. I still recommend this devotional to Christians who want to be God Inspired.

Hi, Jaime. I love reading about transformation. It is never too late to start believing. (The good thief comes to mind.) The author even brought his newfound faith further by sharing it. I hope he heeds your comment and does something about the editing so that he can touch even more lives.

Wow! It's really too bad that there were so many mistakes in this. That really can distract from the work, and it is so easily taken care of! Other than that, it sounds like a good devotional. How sad. Thanks for the review, though.

I won't be reading this because of the grammatical errors, but I love that this devotional does not advertise one denomination or Christianity as a religion. Great review! I hope that the author will fix the errors.
