"Marching with a Broken Shadow" by Dyson Russell is an exquisite collection of poems that intricately explores the depths of human emotions. Dyson Russell adeptly plunges into the profound depths of inner contemplation and the prevalent emotions, traversing from the deepest abysses of pain and disorientation to the entrancing pinnacles of joy and reverie. This literary voyage escorts the reader through the poignant landscapes of existence, spanning from the inception of life to the culmination of death, and all that exists in the interim. This expedition imparts a profound sentiment of reflection and awe.

One standout piece in the book, "Parsimonious Smile," resonates deeply. It eloquently portrays the author's ability to maintain a facade of happiness despite experiencing internal struggles. This theme strikes a chord with many readers who have faced similar situations, such as the need to put on a brave face for loved ones, as I did after the passing of my father. It's a poignant reminder of the strength it takes to carry on in the face of adversity.

The book boasts of professional editing, evident from the scarcity of errors, which adds to the overall quality of the reading experience. The topics explored, particularly love, death, and depression, are universally relatable, providing readers with a profound sense of connection.

With a five out of five star rating, "Marching with a Broken Shadow" is undoubtedly a gem in the realm of poetry. It invites readers to sink into its verses, offering solace and introspection. The only caveat might be for those accustomed to simpler poetry, as Russell's work is characterized by its emphatic, deep, rhythmic, and enchanting style. This collection is best enjoyed in a cozy setting, curled up on a couch with a steaming cup of tea.

In conclusion, Dyson Russell's "Marching with a Broken Shadow" is a masterfully crafted collection of poems that touches the very core of human existence. It is a must-read for those seeking to delve into the complexities of life, love, and loss, and are willing to embrace the profound emotions that accompany them.

Marching with a broken shadow is a poetic and metaphorical concept. Shadows represent the hidden or unseen aspects of ourselves, and marching with a broken shadow might symbolize moving forward despite feeling incomplete or facing inner struggles. It's a thought-provoking idea, often explored in literature and art.

I love poems especially those that teach and make the human mind dive deep into the meaning, live through it, and embrace it. I love the way you got yourself into the way of poems in this book. Thank you, Shanesha for your lovely review.

Though I'm not always a huge fan of poetry, I typically read to be in the right mood, this seems like an interesting collection of I ever want to dive into the human existence.
