Queensbridge is a small, impoverished community with a primarily black population. A place where residents feel their lives revolve around the town and will end there, with little expectation of seeing anything other than what the town has to offer. This is the story of Juanita, a single mother who is suffering. Her husband was killed in a gunfight. Since then, everything has gone sour for her. She worked tirelessly to provide her children with food and education. When she lost her husband, Maurice, it appeared like the light in her life went out. As if life couldn't get any worse, her second child, Jerami, was diagnosed with cancer, and her first child, Jalen, was slipping out of control and disappearing into the wilds of the street because he thought his mother no longer gave him time and care. Will Juanita withstand all of this turmoil? Find out by reading this engaging story.

Mothers Vol. 1 by Ben Burgess Jr. is a captivating story that keeps readers engrossed as the various unique scenarios unfold. The book dives into the lives of blacks in the 1990s, how they view themselves, and how the rest of the world sees them. The majority of them were involved in drug sales, serving time, and killing each other in a battle for dominion to keep themselves safe and rich. That appears to be their sole method of survival. The book also portrays the cruelty of the police against these people and how some whites see them. This is the world and environment Juanita finds herself in, and she works hard to shield her children from it. Only time will tell if she will be successful.

The bond built between these three single mothers is my favorite feature of the novel. Juanita, Tracy, and Debbie, despite the turbulence in their lives, find refuge and strength in their relationship as they face life's challenges. Debbie's self-sacrifice for Juanita moved me. In addition to the sacrifices they both made for one another. This intriguing story illustrates a mother's love for her kids and the sacrifices she is willing to make to keep them safe. The book tackles significant subjects that provoke serious consideration in readers.

There is nothing I disliked about the book. I'm inspired by this story. My only regret is reaching the end of the last page, as I wished the story wouldn't end. The author did an excellent job with the writing style of the book, as every scene felt vivid and I felt the emotions of each character. Some of which brought me to tears. The story is unpredictable, putting one in suspense and eager to flip to the next page.

I rate this book five out of five stars because the book provides strong moral themes that are inspiring, impactful, and motivating. The book is exceptionally well edited, as I discovered no errors in it. I recommend this engrossing tale to single mothers and individuals going through a rough phase in life.

Juanita's tale is depressing, tragic, and exhausting. I want to know how these three women handle everything. Mothers will go to great lengths to ensure their children's safety. I'll definitely give this book a shot. An excellent and fantastic review. Well done

I can’t pretend to know what theses mothers, in this community are going through. I do know that under normal circumstances, a mother’s love and care for her children trumps everything else. It’ a good thing that these women found each other.
