Thanks everyone for the feedback. This was one of those books that stayed with me long after I finished the last page.

Great review. Is it just me or are there more films than books tackling this issue?

I've always found myself having a hard time relating to people who embark for long periods of time. This book seems to go inside these persons' minds. I think reading this book would give me a good glimpse of how their lives are. Thanks for this great review!

The story seems interesting, but the slow pacing made me to pass this one. Anyway, thank you for an honest review.

The author’s lyrical writing style is a joy to read, purely from a writing standpoint.
You sold the book to me with this line!

"Once in a Blue Year" is a lyrical-style story of four friends. One can sometimes think they're enemies, but other times, they unbelievably hurry to rescue one another in the right time. It's highly appreciated and strongly recommended.

Good review. I enjoyed reading your personal thoughts & feelings about the author' writing style. When you likened it to poetry, it provided me w specific insight, which was very helpful.
I do however feel as if you went into the storyline specifics too much. In a review I don't necessarily want a recap of the story happenings, but want more information in regards to the writing & storytelling itself. At length details about the storyline are meant to be contained within the blurb/jacket. Just my personal opinion, I mean no offense. Otherwise the review was great!

The cover is completely different from the story, this is what I want a story to grab my attention. Very good review don't too much care about the cursing. As long as it has a good ending.

The official review of Michael D. Durkota's Once in a Blue Year made me want to indulge in a topic I normally don't enjoy, military life. Even better the characters were so compelling such that the reviewer continued to think about them after finishing the book.

This book sounds like it gives some realistic insight into the struggles of veterans. I like that you say that it has vivid descriptions and poetic writing. However, I don't think that this one is for me after hearing that it is slow.

While this doesn't sound like my typical choice of reading, it does sound interesting. It always nice when the characters stick with you, even after you've finished the book. Thanks for the review!

This sounds like a decent book, but I probably won't read it if the pace is too slow.
