A Pocketful of $20s by Madelaine Lawrence is a book that follows Lynn Price, who has to give $20 to five people during Christmas time in order to keep her mother’s tradition since she is unable to do so due to health issues. Lynn is excited to hand the money to people who may need it, but she is not having a great time herself and interacting with these five strangers helps her realize some stuff about her life and encourages her to make changes to improve her lifestyle.

The book starts with Lynn establishing her situation in all aspects of her life, the happy and the difficult ones. As the story continues, you get to know Lynn's fears and insecurities, but also how she overcomes them. I definitely like the development of the plot and how complex it becomes as the characters' situations change for the better. What I liked the most was that, even though it is a short book, the author wrote about the five strangers that Lynn gives the money to, allowing the reader to get to know them better. It's a light and heartwarming story, easy to read, that will keep you entertained. The author provides a well-developed and well-written story that gives the reader a full experience. Also, the author treats difficult topics such as domestic violence. As well, I like the fact that the characters have to encourage themselves to take risks and make changes, even though they may seem too late or risky. I think the author does a great job portraying this kind of situation.

Aside from the possible conflict of love interests of the main character, which I thought was unnecessary, it's an endearing story that I mostly enjoyed, and there were no other aspects I disliked.

My rating for this book is 5 out of 5 stars. I would say the book was exceptionally well edited, since I did not find any errors in it. The book has a great rhythm and pace, making it effortless to keep reading. The plot is gripping and keeps your attention throughout the book, making you eager to know what comes next.

I would recommend this book for people interested in reading a short story that contains some drama and romance. This book will keep you entertained and it could also be a good option for people who are looking for an inspiring and heartwarming story as this book talks about personal growth, facing your fears and encouraging people to make changes.
