Love - an expressive emotional entity- exists with all human beings , but many times it is not easy to get , recognise and value the true love. The book Three loves and other stories by Lata Gullapalli is written on similar experiences. Not only 'three loves ' but all from ' other stories ' also contain different forms of love. The main character in these stories is typically a woman. I can say that author Lata Gullapalli indirectly gives a message that love can be recognised and exchanged in the natural original form, mainly by women. Each story visualizes the life of a woman and her experience of world as woman. Almost all stories are filled with the feelings and emotions arising out of a relationship with or without love.

'Three loves' includes, three types of experience about love - Hidden or invisible, selfish or illusive and real with strong affection. 'Magic' is a story of successful love, having prominent attraction based on sexual desire of partners. Author has specifically included a special description of their love making. ' Soul Energy ' is a story of intimate friends having ' soul connection. ' One friend passes away due to cancer. She then appears live as soul, to accompany the other and instructs her to visit her family to take care of her children. She disappears happily, after visiting her family and confirming the wellbeing of her children. 'The Yen of Happiness' shows how one can be involved in misunderstanding of possible relationship of love. ' Restart ' gives a very good lesson of a ' fresh start with positive energy ' when things go adversely in important stages of one's life. Untitled story has in it, the experience of a woman about inferiority of daughter against son in the view of parents. ' Growing up ' describes the discovery of the hidden care and love of a mother, for her eldest child. ' Roots ' contains the story of a woman, who was not able to recognise the affection and love of her parents.

The positive aspects of the book Three loves and other stories by Lata Gullapalli include, beautifully developed characters and lively description of the thoughts in their minds. We find in this book a very good analysis of the sentiments, feelings and emotions of the persons involved in a relationship. This analysis is based on the theories and principles of philosophy and psychology. The language used to describe the mental conditions of different characters is highly sophisticated. Author Lata Gullapalli has used 'figure of speech' very nicely, wherever required. I liked the narrations like: ' He was a star, not on the ascendent, but fully risen and firmly on the bright sky of success. ' We just need sufficient tools in our toolbox to go through both happy and tough times.' 'She was thanking her stars, ancestors, Gods and Goddesses and every one she could possibly think of, with a full heart.' Author has smartly utilised her knowledge and experience as a successful and top level corporate executive.

What I found negative is repeated situations in some stories. Many times it appears that one and the same character is entering the new story by different name. I also feel that, the depth to which love making is described in the story ' Magic ' does not suit the decorum of the book.

The book is professionally edited. There are no errors and typos except a single which I found. For the points stated above, I am rating this book 4 out of 4 stars. I appreciate the sharing of the experience of her own life by author Lata Gullapalli.

I will recommend this book to all the persons caring for relationships and love. All the stories have some valuable message for each and every member in a family.
