Review of Three loves and other stories
A collection of short stories by Lata Gullapalli is titled "Three Loves and Other Stories." The fears we all experience at some point were discussed in the book, as well as the routine questions we ask ourselves. How often do we try to grab the attention and affection of our loved ones yet fail? Even though we may love someone dearly, some people begin to emotionally influence us and we must let them go. What distinguishes each relationship from the others? Separation cannot exist between two people who love each other.
I enjoyed this book. Three Loves and Other Stories explains why maintaining a capable body, mind, and personality depends on having an intense sense of self-worth. The author provides examples of how common it is to occasionally feel undeserving as well as how unique and challenging love is. Many of the circumstances that were stated I have personally encountered, and many other people have or will experience at some point in their lives. This book is a helpful reminder that you have the right to demand fair treatment and anticipate consequences if your requirements are not respected or met.
Three Loves and Other Stories contains several poems and phrases in Hindi, which I enjoyed. A Hindi poem and its translation are included at the start of each story. Every time I refer to one, it causes me to experience something. I found Soul Energy to be a fascinating narrative, and I hadn't expected Magic Again, but I enjoyed reading it. In several stories throughout the book, the author discusses love and connection after marriage, in a family, and between two strangers.
Favorite quote/passage:
"We just need sufficient tools in our toolbox to go through both happy and tough times. That is just all what growing up is all about - making a toolbox full of tools strong enough and varied enough to let you face any situation in your life, and face it with confidence."
Everything in this book was delightful, except for how long the stories were. I didn't discover any mistakes, and the book was exceptionally well written. Three Loves and Other Stories received a score of four out of four stars from me.
I would recommend this book to others, especially those who have been in failed relationships in the past because it focuses on self-worth and self-love. But this book is also enjoyable for people of all ages.
