Review of Cynthia and Dan
Suspense, romance, and cyberterrorism unite in this action-packed installment of the McBride Series by Dorothy May Mercer. In Cynthia and Dan: Cyber War, a potentially explosive game is afoot. Cynthia is young, hot, and Chief of Security for Washington D.C. Senator Mike McBride. She and Sergeant Dan McIntyre of Fairfax Police Department have been dating for three years, but now the passion in their relationship has all but fizzled out. Meanwhile, in an obscure location across the globe, a stealthy and dangerous plot against the United States President is underway. Can Cynthia use her keen snooping skills to stop the imminent terrorist attack on President Bigelow's life while getting her love life in order?
I could not find any grammatical errors in my online copy of the novel, and I laud the author for the exceptional editing. There is one detailed lovemaking scene, but the author offsets it with a warning that an R-rated scene is about to start, which I thought was different and quite helpful. Furthermore, the characters seldom swear, except for the odd expletive in the appropriate context. Therefore, in my opinion, there was nothing to dislike about the book.
In all, Cynthia and Dan: Cyber War is a fun romance thriller that will appeal to adults young and old who enjoy novels centered around political and relationship tensions. It is a quick read, perfect for a lazy afternoon on the couch. This novel exceeded my expectations and left me with very little room for criticism; thus, I rate the book 3 out of 4 stars overall.
