Review of Bourbon and Benjamins
Bourbon and Benjamins by Linda George and Kathy Steele is a fiction book that tells the story of two sisters who entertainingly live their lives while trying to find out about the inheritance their father left for them. The book is very engaging and humorous to all readers.
Denney, who just got divorced, joined Kat in Louisville to live in a house they bought from their father. They lived an eccentric and entertaining lifestyle. After the demise of their father, they started their search for their shares of his inheritance. As each day passed by with a new adventure, they felt closer to their quest of finding their inheritance. Will the two sisters accomplish their quest? This question is only left for readers to answer.
The book is very entertaining and stunning for me as the reader. The relationship between the sisters is cool, even if their lifestyle seems eerie. The author's description of the characters was very simple. Even while reading the book, I felt very comfortable. It seemed as though I knew everything about them. Their everyday life was very adventurous. They experienced new things and heard new stories. The book is perfect, and the sisters are very amusing.
I love the genre of this book to start with. It is a mystery book with a little humor enough to make a reader's day quite engaging. They get along and stick together no matter what their everyday adventure presents to them.
I wouldn't say I like the repetition of words in Mike's speech on page 77. The words "and half" were repeated twice. The book lacked proper usage of punctuation marks, especially the quotation mark. The fact that the same mistakes were repeated was a challenge for me. I find this very unpleasant and disturbing in a book, as this would make a reader not know when a character has started or finished speaking. Dialogue must be consistently represented with a quotation mark. Such consistency was almost lacking in the book.
Consequently, I would rate this book 3 out of 4 stars. But due to my reading experience and the pleasure I derived from reading this book, I could not deduct the rating further. The characters, plot, and settings were all great and well written. The book was still professionally edited.
I will gladly recommend this book to readers who find fiction and mystery books with a blend of humor very intriguing. This would not be recommended to young readers as they might not relate to the lifestyles of the featuring characters.
