I've read good things about the author, but after reading the sample, I am not sure if I will continue reading this or not. It may be just that I need to start with book 1.

Good character driven story surrounding Australian landscape beginning at the height of the WWII. Your review was detailed and insightful.

Very few authors write stories regarding disabled people and real hardships around the world.. It helps others to overcome life hurdles and can hope for the best days to come by hardwork. Joey will be the best moral novel in everyone's life history..Hopefully he will succeed atleast in his love story. Nice review.

After reading the sample, I now understand why Joey's step father is abusive to him. The book includes themes on racism and discrimination that are more apparent in the story's setting. Sounds like the kind of realistic novel I usually read.

This book is about a man named Joey. We follow his story as he go through abuse, discrimination, and his journey towards finding love. This book seems like a heart warming drama with lessons about racism and discrimination.

So this is going to be short. This reviewer was on point with the review of this book. The highlights were perfect, depicting the difficulties of Joey's birth and the challenges he experienced while growing up. The book highlighted issues of discrimination and the struggles involved in finding love. The review was really on point and good.

I think this is a nice read as Joey tries to live a happy life, despite the challenges he faces. I might consider reading it after grabbing the first book in the series. Thanks for your review.

This series is definitely going in my TBR. I love it when authors take different characters perspectives to talk about the main character. It gives the characters that much more depth and feel.

It is unfortunate that Joey suffered emotional abuse by his father. I'd love to read more. I appreciate books that act as stand alone when in a series. Great review.

This seems like a great story and Joey seems like a remarkable character. I hope I'll be able to catch up with the story given the fact that this is the 3rd book in the series. Congratulations on making book of the day!

Joey by Jennie Linnane is a third book in a series of Ironbark Hill. In this book, the author sends a strong message about abuse, discrimination and racism. Considering what he had to endure, I hope Joey finds true, genuine unconditional love.
