Nikki has been transferred to a new school, where everyone's parents are rich and she is trying to keep it a secret that the only reason she got in is because of her dad's bug-extermination contract with the school. She has made some friends and is crushing on the same guy her arch-nemesis Mackenzie. Mackenzie absolutely despises Nikki and Nikki doesn't really know, exactly, why. While trying to survive the only thing she can be completely honest with is the diary her mom bought her at the beginning of the school year. Nikki had sworn to never write in it and now it is her most prized possession.

Nikki also has a little sister named Brianna, who drives her crazy.
