With a few revisions, this might make a very nice book. I hope the author takes your criticisms constructively. Thanks for your well-written and honest review!

Vulgarity and misogyny in a book? Not my thing.
I am still thinking about how a wound can be sexy-mind boggling.
It might work for someone else though.

I appreciate your detailed and honest review.

It seems really flat and non-engaging. To be honest its cover didn't really predispose me positively at first but that was just a hint. Luckily I didn't bother reading the book. Great and really honest review, thanks!

From your review, it seems that this book suffers from a constant lack of continuity, which would make it very hard to stay engrossed in the story. The line, "the wound was sexy in her slender leg" made me cringe; even with the few examples of sentences within the book that I have been able to read from your review, I agree with your assessment that the female protagonist seems to have been created through the male gaze. While I do love action scenes, I don't think that they will be enough to redeem this book, judging from its flaws that you have pointed out. I think Nikki Armstrong, Measure of a Woman will be a hard pass for me.
Thank you for the wonderful review.

This book touches on many delicate subjects, such as corruption within the law enforcement, human and drug trafficking, rape, and sexual abuse;
What a wasted opportunity. This part got me interested but the negatives you mentioned are a let down. Thanks for the detailed view :)

While done people might enjoy it, I think I'll take your warnings and steer clear of this one! I need a lot of payoff to be satisfied with a crime book, and over-romanticized or otherwise objectifying writing does get quite annoying. Thanks for your curt review!

Seems the author's intentions were in the right place but his execution needs improving on. I hope that he takes on your recommendations and gives it another go. Thank you for a candid review!

The book sounds like a raw material to me. And, yes, "manicured fingers" are just irrelevant :) Thank you for an insightful review!

Thank you for your honest review. I like the point you made about a female character written through a man's eye."Sexy wound" sounds kind of cringy, to be honest. I'm also not sure about the storyline. Nevertheless, I appreciate the author's attempt to address some important subjects. I don't think I'll read this one, but I enjoyed your review.

Many male authors fail to write a great woman because of the male gaze. I was interested in the book until the description about the wound being sexy just because it's on her leg. Thank you for the thorough review!

I appreciate the honest review. It almost sounds like the author was trying to do too much and missed the mark.

Police themed action novels aren't really my thing. Another round of editing seems necessary. I'll pass. Great review!

First, I like the fact that the book has a strong female character. Otherwise, it's a pity it had to come with a couple of issues. Great review!

Sounds like a book I wouldn't enjoy either. The intention of making a strong female character is good, such a pity the male gaze slipped through. Thank you for you honest review!
