Mock My Words ; this book is a masterpiece. It's a perfect blend of immigration struggles, love, romance, digital espionage, heartbreak. Davis Tan, a literary genius from China arrives in America having written two well-received and brilliant books. His style of writing is eloquent but surprisingly, his speech is not that eloquent and when he joins the prestigious faculty of Steinbeck University in California he struggles to connect with his students and doesn't get that much luck when trying to connect with senior members of the faculty from whom he wanted mentorship and guidance.

Things aren't any better for David at home as Laura, the woman he has fallen so deeply in love with and to whom he has been married for five years becomes so engrossed with work trying to solve a tech conspiracy that she begins to grow distant from him. There were occasional moments of intense and deep passion from her but there was nothing he could do to save his marriage. At the 'Word Repair Center', he meets Melissa who needed advice on how to make her business plan convincing enough to get funding but even she ignores him after he has given her sound advice. Everything seems to be working against David.

Laura meanwhile stirs up the hornet's nest at work as she continues to investigate this seemingly impossible data breach experienced by one of her firm's clients which puts even more strain on her and David's marriage, she gets fired but then gets an even better job. Melissa gets funding for her and Heidi's revolutionary technology which makes her feel guilty for not appreciating David for giving her the advice in the first place, Salima and Harry (David's colleagues at work) get good evals from their students.

Chandra Shekhar is a literary genius, he has written a rather compelling, fast-paced and engaging book. The moment you pick up this book, you won't want to drop it. His characters are so well-crafted and their stories/personalities so well-defined. This book is exceptionally flawless, well-written and I would recommend it to everyone.

I rate Mock My Words 4 out of 4 stars , I would give it an even higher rating if there were more stars. I enjoyed every moment I spent reading the book and I encourage you to read it. I fell in love with the characters right from the beginning and loved their evolution and growth all through the book.
