The Touch: A Supernatural Story Part 1 by Robert Flynn III begins the night Alabama, a nurse, witnesses unimaginable events at the hospital. Patients are acting strange, and one lady even tells Alabama that there has been a boy in her room. Right away the reader gets a feel for what the author may be referring to in the title, The Touch. A little boy is on a mission to touch certain patients in the hospital, giving them a great sense of peace and purity of thought. This mission, as discovered in the second chapter, is one of some supernatural being that is carried out by specific people. The boy, Gabriel, follows the directions of the supernatural being by taking on an etheric form to do the jobs he has been directed to do. Gabriel has been in a foster home almost his entire life. He has heard the voice of the supernatural being in his head for as long as he can remember. Gabriel shares his room at the foster home with a boy named Josh. Gabriel and Josh grow very close to one another through unlikely circumstances. Along their journey, they, especially Gabriel, are receiving communications from the supernatural being. The goal of the being, we are led to believe, is that the people who have been evil on Earth will begin to suffer. This can be accomplished through the touch of someone who has been spoken to through the supernatural being. The goal can also be met through the etheric presences of characters like Gabriel and others who have been in contact with the supernatural being. The suffering we see some of the worst humans go through changes their lives immediately. They cannot help but repent and fearfully follow directives from people who are being guided by the supernatural being.

The thing I liked most about The Touch was the connection to a supernatural being. I had never read a book like this. I enjoyed picturing an angel during the encounters various characters had with the supernatural being. The thing I liked the least about the book were the descriptions. Several times I felt like I wanted more information or more details about things that were happening in the book. A lot happened in such a short book, and I wish there would have been more vivid portrayals.

I give this book an overall rating of 3 out of 4. The two reasons I would give this book a 3 is because of the lack of descriptions, and I thought it could have been better edited. I thoroughly enjoyed the storyline which is the major reason I wanted there to be more to the story.

The Touch would appeal to readers who enjoy reading books about angels and other supernatural beings. Readers who enjoy fantasy books may also enjoy it.
