to understand what you want to read about - try to find in encyclopedia, for example in wikipedia :wink:

1776, Kingmakers, Havana Nocturne covers several periods from the American revolution, making of the Modern Middle East and precommunist Cuba. These were all good reads. Any suggestions for something written recently?
