I sampled this book and dithered over whether to read it, but after this review, I'm tempted to.

Thank you for such a good review. I love reading memoir-like stories and I will definitely put this book on my reading shelf. I am quite particular interested in memoirs because I actually have been planning on writing one about myself when I am old. It would be good to leave something of yourself for posterity for see.

As a Georgia native, I find I can't get into the quaint, "Mayberry" kind of stories as much as I can the vicious, bizarre, O'Conner-style of southern remembrance. Sounds like a satisfying enough book, just not for me. Good review.

I want to read this book. I'm from rural North Alabama and grew up in the 70s and 80s but I've heard stories from my parents that I find similar to the review. Even growing up much later than Deuce, I can actually relate in ways such as the "bless your heart" phrase which isn't exactly a compliment. I like that the central character is Deuce and the stories don't jump from character to character. Nice review that makes me want to read Southern Fried.

I'm happy to hear it! Thank you for checking it out!
I can also say I easily use the "bless her/his/your heart" phrase often! ;)
