I relate to Joe, when a place only reminds us of our losses, why shouldn't we just go somewhere else? I like the questions this story proposes, are we able to leave the past behind?
This seems like an intriguing book, one to add to my reading list.

Not only is the book adventurous, it has some romance in it. Joe seems like a fighter and will not let the cartels get to him. Great review

A former sergeant living as a modern cowboy in west Texas after experiencing a sticky work situation and a lot of personal loss - sounds interesting! I like that one of the strong secondary characters is a barista rather than the typical bartender. Thanks for the thorough review!

'Official Review: The Unlikely Cowboy' by James E. Doucette is a thorough analysis of the romantic story of a police officer in New York for keen readers. The reactions to the book provided by the reviewer are fascinating to follow. The point that the author sweeps the reader into the charm of a small western community and introduces many intriguing characters is worth mentioning in the review. Also, the point that the readers would enjoy following the protagonist on his first cowboy experiences, as mentioned in the review, is remarkable for readers. It was great to learn that the conclusion of the story is satisfying!

A western novel filled with romance, cartels and suspense. A very enjoyable book. I loved everything about it from the characters to the scenes to the suspense. Well deserved.

This sounds like a fun western book to read. It's a shame that the romance part of the book fell flat but I'm glad that there was a good story and intriguing characters to make up for it. Great review!

A retired cop trying to heal from the loss of his family while exploring a new life and a second chance at love, even with the insistent disturbance from a cartel, sounds like a cool plot.

I’m looking forward to digging into this novel to find out how Joe will be able to have a second chance at love, and peaceful life or still continue battling it out against the cartel out to take revenge.

A book about a police officer that killed a Mexican drug cartel member in New York and then moving to Texas to start a new life. Unfortunately the cartel will not leave him alone after he moves to Canyon, Texas. He meets a new woman and falls in love which complicates his life evading the cartel. The book included 258 pages in 73 chapters. A modern day western that I enjoyed reading the sample and the official review. Very good review.

This sounds like a good story overall. People who prefer to have less exposition will probably enjoy the romance more than others.
