I was so absorbed in the story that I didn't realize the main character wasn't given a name until I had to write the review. I just assumed that the author is the protagonist.

I really did not bother my self with the protagonist name even though it felt awkward at first that his name wasn't mentioned. However I agree with your last point though anyone could easily fit into the protagonist description.

For instance, you can pretty well picture a Heather or a Chad right off the bat. I name a character Baldomir and what do you think? I think you're right. I don't recall a name, either.
I think you're right. That's a good point. I wonder why we were given Rachel's name though.
I'm here for a good time, not a long time. Yolo!

The main protagonist is also the author, the story is a real one. However, I think you have a solid point from a self-reflection point of view.

I took the main character as being the author, although it did bother me at first that I couldn't understand what I was reading, but I could eventually.

I wasn't bothered by the narrator's name, I was just too engrossed with the book. I feel maybe the narrator does not want to be revealed.
