Right! I found that inspiring. :)

I learned the importance of living life on your own terms. The protagonist always felt like his life was out of his hands and that was the beginning of his frustrations. Also, I learned the importance of taking your time. As much as Alec was a playboy i like the fact that he took his time before settling down.

You only live once, the power of friendships and professionalism - these are my greatest takeaways from the book. Also, the author's humor when narrating the story was a breath of fresh air.

What hit home with me is the fact that sometimes, some things end, and trying to hold on to them does more harm than good. I've realized it's never too late to start over, rather than mourning what was, I'm going to step out and see what life has in store for me.

One lesson I'll never forget is to not mess things up cos I'll regret it later. The protagonist is, till the end, burdened by his regret for having an affair. That ruined his life, family and career.
Whatever we do, we must always think of consequences. That hit me hard.

For me, the most important lesson is to be adventurous and spontaneous in life. The missions evolved into something deeper than just w trip for the guys. It was an institution, a reckoning. I also saw and noted the importance of a core friendship circle.

I learned that it is important that you face whatever life throws at you headfirst. Trying to hide or pretend nothing is happening would help no one.

There are so many lessons to learn from this book but i think the biggest lesson was on perseverance. Despite the actually reality of these men and the difficulty they experienced during the missions they kept pushing. It really inspired me reading about how far they pushed.

I really liked the fact that they all experienced a sort of shift in their friendship dynamic in the sense that most of them came into the mission already having steady jobs and the start of a relationship or family, while Alec lived a more spontaneous life, then towards the end that dynamic shifted where a lot of their jobs and relationships were crumbling while Alec was the more steady one. It just goes to show that we all have different paths in life and there's never an exact right way of how to live it. We all have lessons to learn and they can happen at any time in your life so it's best to just let go and enjoy it more.
