Yes, this book can stand alone as a novel. There is no continuity in content flow from the earlier books save for the use of similar characters.

I think this is a stand alone book, as I understood the plot of the story very well before reading any other novels in the series.

I also read another book in this series by the author (Conflict on the Yangtze) and I also found it was a stand-alone book, so I believe the author is good in writing stand-alone novels.

I don't think that someone starting with this book in the Skills of the Warramunga series would understand a lot of the story. It would still be entertaining but why make it more difficult to follow?

Yes, we can also call the book, Skills of the Warramunga, a stand-alone book. Because, as a reader, except this book, I have never read any other book in the Warramunga series. But, I had no difficulty in reading this book. Because, the author recaptured very nicely Jamie, Jacko, and Johnny's relationship and how they all met in his third book very nicely.

I read this book with no prior knowledge of the previous works and I didn't find anything to be a source of confusion. Surely it would be nice to read a book series in order, but all the important informations were carefully included so I don't see a problem in diving into this one book alone.

I think this book can be easily read as a standalone book. The characters descriptions are enough to understand the book on it own.

Even though a book from a series could be read as a stand alone, I still want to read the series in order so as to understand more of what actually went on in greater depth. Especially that Kater's writing and story telling is superb.

The author has provided some basic details about the previous books and that would not make the reader feel that he has any lack of knowledge. The book stands as alone but I believe that if one has read a book in the series, the others must be read too.

The book could be definitely read as a stand alone. There are slight references to the previous books, but the adventures are totally new and independent of the prequels.

To fully understand and relate to characters- I can only read the books in order as opposed to reading it alone. Personally, I have to Fully understand what is going on , so reading this as a stand alone book would only confuse me if I didn’t know the events that occurred previously!
