ARA Review by Nikola Djurovic of In It Together

The ARA Review Exchange is a system in which authors review other authors' books, generlaly in exchange for getting their own book reviews by other authors. However, the person who reviews a author's book is not the same person whose book that author reviewed. This way, author reviews do not influence each other, such as by an author being inclined to reward a good review by deliving one in return or deliver a negative review as revenge.

In It Together: The Beautiful Struggle Uniting Us All is a powerful and timely book that explores the issues of diversity, inclusion, and social justice in the modern world. The author, Eckhart Aurelius Hughes, draws on his personal experiences as a Black man and as a diversity and inclusion consultant to provide readers with a compelling and engaging perspective on these important topics.

The book is divided into three main parts. The first part examines the challenges that people of different backgrounds and cultures face when they come together, including racism, prejudice, and discrimination. The second part looks at the ways in which people can overcome these challenges and work together to create a more inclusive and equitable society. The final part of the book provides practical tips and strategies for building more diverse and inclusive communities, including tools for effective communication, leadership, and advocacy.

One of the strengths of this book is the author's ability to blend personal anecdotes and reflections with broader insights and research. By sharing his own experiences as a Black man in America, Hughes is able to make the issues of diversity and inclusion more relatable and accessible to readers. He also draws on a range of academic research and best practices to provide a nuanced and informed perspective on these topics.

Throughout the book, Hughes emphasizes the importance of recognizing our shared humanity and working together to build a more just and equitable world. He encourages readers to embrace their differences and to use them as a source of strength and creativity, rather than division and conflict. By doing so, he argues, we can create a more beautiful and united world that benefits us all.

Overall, In It Together is an insightful and inspiring book that is well worth reading for anyone interested in issues of diversity, inclusion, and social justice. It provides a valuable roadmap for creating more inclusive and equitable communities, and serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of working together to build a better world for all.
