The man's hat covering his face is apt to portray a deviant character like McDowell but I did not like the black and white book cover. Although in a sea of colored book covers, the minimalist black and white figure of a man does capture a reader's attention, but I would have preferred a more illustrated cover.

The cover of the book was intriguing. The black and white colors fit the cover as well as the small image.

To me the book cover lets you imagine what will happen in the book before you read it. I think the black and white lets you paint the colors for your self in your mind.

I haven't actually read the book, but I will say that I think the cover was a major turn-off for me.

I like the illustration, as it has a sense of mystery and shabbiness. The black and white look works well to promise a serious and straightforward story. The only thing I don't like is the font and the words placement. It feels a little.. cheap and unprofessional, I guess?

I think the cover does fit aspects of the story. I feel that the black and white cover portrays how McDowell went from being very sure of himself to not knowing who he is, and working on rediscovering himself (e.g. going back to basics and building from there).

I think black and white is ok. It sets the mood for the mystery within the book.

At many points in the story, I found myself picturing McDowell just as he was on the cover. He's a layered, mysterious sort of character, and I definitely think the cover matches that.

I like the cover of the book. I am much more drawn to simple covers, and the clean cover on McDowell was one of the features that drew me to the book in the first place. I know they say that you aren't supposed to judge a book by its cover, but I do. I am 99.9% more likely to pick up a book with a simple black and white cover, sometimes with nothing but the title and authors name on the front, than I am to pick up one where the cover is filled with images.

The cover adds mysterious and intriguing aspect. And with McDowell's mysterious character, it fits to the story of the book.

It is said not to judge a book by its cover, but who listens. Every reader notices a book by its cover first. So for me, the cover was the first thing that intrigued me. The simplicity of the cover page and the white and black figure on the front led me to choose this book. It gave a mysterious vibe about the character.

The book is about the character named Hiram McDowell. The person on the cover in black and white is indicative of a similar character who is strong but has some personal secrets of life. The person with the hat and the head down is how Hiram McDowell would look like.

Charlyt wrote: 24 Oct 2018, 11:23 I liked the book cover a lot. It's as simple as the title of the book, which is his name. The cover and the title emphasizes the character-based book that it is, and I think its simplicity draws curiosity.
I fully agree with this comment.

The cover does justice to the story as they both are all about Hiram Mc Dowell. The cover is intriguing and adds to the mysterious character that is Hiram.
