Book #1: Rosemary and Rue

@Gravy where are you in the book? I have read the first few chapters and enjoy it.

Toby is a vivacious changeling! I liked the prelude 'where she was turned into fish. It was a strong opening. 14 years as a fish is a bit too long though. I wouldn't have thought she would have survived that long as a fish...It is sad her family didn't want any contact with her. It is understandable why she denied the Faerie world. At first, I was confused about how she changed back into a human. The author's explanation was a bit vague on that point (the dawn or some other reason).

I have reached the part after the murder scene. The dying curse sure is a great motivation, though she would have investigated anyway. I like the book so far.

I'm almost done with chapter 7.

Fourteen years is a very long time. I hate what it cost her. :(

I love the whole thing of her working at Safeway. It always sticks with me, for some reason...not sure why. Just one of those scenes I guess.

I'm slightly hesitant to comment much, as I don't want to get anywhere near spoiling anything.

She introduced Toby's blood magic so well. That whole scene just sets the stage.

Yes, I like the Safeway scene too.

The blood magic was cool and chilling at the same time!

I am in the middle of chapter 5. Go ahead and comment without worrying about spoilers.I will read your post after I catch up. :)

Okay, I'm through chapter 8.

I am so familiar with her writing at this point, it's like putting on a comfy pair of socks. Even with as little as I've been getting read, I somehow just fly through her books. I love it. <3

I forgot to ask; what did you think of Tybalt?

What do you think about the Queen of the Mist's response? It was odd that she refused to listen, and I didn't like her attitude. The Fae in the book so far don't look so good! The author managed to draw their characteristics well, though.

The relationships between Tobi and Devin sure seem loaded. I hope she won't regret her choice to turn to him for help.

I am not a fan of the Queen.
She is not stable.

Loaded is a very good word for them.

What did you think of the rose goblin? It's so cute!

I've read a bit more, but I can't remember what chapter I'm on.
(Eleven, I think.)

I agree they are cute!

I am on chapter 18 and enjoying it. The blood curse, the hope chest, and the murder attempts make it an interesting read! Toby sure has her hands full!

Tybalt starts to grow on me. I wish there were more scenes with him.

I finished the book and loved it! I loved the world-building, the creativity, the magic, the whole baggage. I rated it 4/4 stars.

It was a good start to a series, and I hope the other books are just as good. When you finish the book, we can move to the second book. :)

Oh, that was an intense scene!

No, it doesn't have it.
