@Gravy, have you started the book?

I am in the middle of chapter nine and enjoy it. The first chapters had me hooked. The writing style is engaging, and the dream sequences are well-done.

I have, and (for once) I'm about tied with you!
(Hoping to at least stay close.)

I am greatly enjoying it. I love the descriptions of the world of the dead.
I'm invested in the characters and can't wait to see what happens!

Great! :)

I enjoy it more than I thought I would.

The idea of "ghost bride" is weird, but I love the premise. Kuang Tian, the ghost, is kind of creepy, isn't he?

Btw, I saw there is a TV series based on the book.

I actually planned on reading another of the author's books (The Night Tiger), but then heard about the adaptation of this. At first, I was just ticked off (no Netflix, couldn't watch it), but when I found out it was a book, and by an author I planned to read anyway? Heck yeah!
Also, as a ghost story, it fits one of my favorite things.

I've seen the ghost bride tradition used before, but am not super familiar with it. I find it interesting.
Kuang Tian (he's called Lim Tian Ching in my copy. Weird) is super creepy. And icky. Alive, dead. Creepy, creepy, creepy. Major stalker vibes.

I also love ghost stories!

I haven't heard about the ghost bride tradition, so it is new to me. It is interesting.

The Night Tiger sounds nice as well.

I finished chapter 16 and will wait for you to catch up. The way the author described the world of the dead is great!

I've read through chapter 16.

I'm really enjoying this book. Fan was fun, and I can't wait to see what happens with Tian Bai!
I agree, the afterworld is fascinating, and so easy to picture. I like Old Wong and am glad he can see her!

Hoping to read more later.

I am about to start chapter 21, and there are a lot of new developments. Fan is fun, and I also like Old Wong. The underworld is fascinating, with the demons and officials and the hungry ghosts. I wonder who did murder Lim, if he was murdered at all, and what deal did he make with the demons. The heroine sure is daring and resourceful.

I agree. Li Lan is a great protagonist.

I've just met Er Lang (actually, he's just disappeared!).

I'm very curious to see where this all goes, though I'm not looking forward to seeing Lim Tian Ching again.
The Plains of the Dead sounds so interesting. I can't wait to read about them!

@Gravy where are you in the book? I finished the book and liked it. It dragged a bit toward the middle, but it got back on track right away. I rated it 3/4. I will wait for you to finish it. :)

I'm in the Lim house in the Plains. Er Lang just got her out.

I'm going to hold off on my opinions for the moment (want to see where it's going, first). Still enjoying it! Just some things I'm wondering about.
