hsimone wrote: 09 Apr 2021, 18:47 So I'm about 60% of the way done and I'm absolutely loving this book! Blind Michael is so creepy and completely a horrible "person". I hope Quentin's girlfriend is okay! Can't believe that Blind Michael actually turns kids into horses!

I loved the scene with Tybalt and how vulnerable he became thinking that Toby was going to die retrieving the children. I know I shouldn't be thinking of this, but I hope they end up together! I know Toby and Connor have a thing, but he's married and I like Tybalt so much more!

Can't wait to continue reading! I already have Late Eclipses lined up. :D
How many miles to Babylon?
Three score miles and ten.
Can I get there by candle-light?
Yes, and back again.
If your heels are nimble and light,
You may get there by candle-light.

This is one of my favorite (and most quoted) Toby books. :D

A great quote!

hsimone, I am glad you enjoy the book. Blind Michael is creepy indeed, and Tybalt is great!!!

I love that quote, too!

I finished it yesterday! Soooo good!!

The Quentin/Katie story is so sad, but I think he made the right choice. Katie shouldn't have to live with the trauma she went through with Blind Michael and becoming a horse? Poor thing...

May is awesome! Wonder how long she will be in the series for?

Spike is the best and I ended up really liking Acacia.

That bleeding toward the end was ridiculous. I'm pretty sure I would've just passed out to know that I am soaked in my own blood. Gosh...glad Blind Michael is gone. He was an interesting/twisted character, but I don't think I would've been able to read more about him if he continued on to the next book. Glad that's not the case!

Giving this one a 4/4 stars! Can't wait to jump into Late Eclipses!

I wouldn't have been able to read more about Blind Michael as well. Good riddance!

The next book is great as well! After you finish it, we can start the next one. :)

Especially since we revisited Blind Michael and his world multiple times in An Artificial Night, I would not want to continue to go back there again to have to deal with him.

That's good to know! I got the next one queued up on my kindle already. :)

@gali @Gravy

Did we know that Rat-Catcher, Tybalt's story, existed? I think this is it right here

Here's the Goodreads link: Rat-Catcher

Looks like it's very short. Any interest in reading this together?

I started reading Rat-Catcher and am enjoying! Apparently, there's a sequel to it? There's Forbid the Sea and a Toby and Tybalt story, No Sooner Met.

There's a few Luidaeg stories, but only one that you can get off the site, In Sea-Salt Tears that they suggest to read after One Salt Sea.

If you go to http://seananmcguire.com/tobyshorts.php, you can find a bunch of her short stories/novellas.

I just finished Rat-Catcher. I liked it, but wish there was more. Though I guess that's the point of a short story - there could always be more.

The love that Rand/Tybalt had for his sisters was sweet, the relationship he had with the theater humans was also sweet, and I found his relationship with his dad interesting. Though I did find the ending of his father and Tybalt's take over the kingdom to be a bit abrupt.

I kind of wish there was more about the fire that occurred - why it happened? How long did it last? How did Tybalt go from London to San Francisco in the original series? Maybe the answer to that last question will be in the next short story.

I'll definitely read the next one, Forbid the Sea to see, but it looks likes the site recommends to read it after book five, so maybe I'll wait to do that.
