I'm not a big fan of the cover either, but not because the image itself is displeasing or disturbing to me. I just don't really think it reflects the kind of story it is, but that's just my personal impression.

Oh, I never even saw the revised cover of the book. I wasn't even aware that this book HAD a revised cover. Whoops! But yes, I definitely like that cover better. Not sure why the background image is a photograph of people that was filtered in Photoshop, but I like the silhouette and the text placement in this one. It looks like more time was spent on the revised cover, and it definitely shows.

I totally agree with you. Probably, a picture of something abstract or animated for the audience to interpret and attract curiosity to readers.

I’d agree, it’s not a particularly glamorous picture, but it does put across realism rather than smoke and mirrors.

I agree that the book cover is not alluring but it's true what they say to not judge the book by its cover plus it clearly illustrates the title, like one look at the cover and you'll already have a grasp of what the book is all about.

Definitely not just you, I really disliked the cover page and that was why I did not want to read the book.

I agree the the cover needs revision. one factor that can affect a reader's decision to read the book is the cover, well for me anyway. Sometimes. But like they say, do not judge a book by its cover

I didn't like the cover at first either. To me it seemed as though the author had googled a photo and then pasted it on the cover. After reading the book, however, the cover seemed appropriate.

I only see one issue with it for me, but that's because I do photography. I want him back more to clean up some of the dead space behind him. But I like the idea of the photo.

I think we can't separate the art from the hazard. And since the book is about Duke, he can have his picture doing what he knows best on the book cover in spite how we feel about it.

I agree with you. I didn't like the old, or the new, cover. It seems a little too "look at me" which reminds me of my original connotation of sword swallowers as attention whores. Since that isn't this book's message, I feel like the cover does it an injustice.

I'm embarrassed to admit it took me a second to see the man swallowing a giant sword but when I did it didn't really have any effect. I was just wondering, "How?"

I have not read the book, but it was not because of the cover. It is on my to-read list. I liked the cover and it was actually the thing that convinced me that I want to read this book. It is a little different, and to me, it looks like it tells that this will not be an easy book to read. I like that. Of course, I could be wrong, because that is just the impression that the cover left.

Regardless of what people say, books are typically judged by their covers. I did not like the cover either, but it is an accurate portrayal of the things in the story. Perhaps it excites some people.
